Have you ever wondered why Jesus spoke in parables? Why were these “stories” so vitally important in His ministry? Are they still vitally important today or are they just tales of old? These questions and more will be addressed inside The Kingdom of God in Parables. It will help you understand why they are important while exploring the deeper meanings of each parable.
Why did Jesus use parables? He wants us to understand, to “get it.” The parables of Jesus made the wisdom of God accessible because they were simple. Jesus wanted to make the Kingdom of God known and attainable for everyone. He did not want their thinking about the Kingdom of God to be a distant, far-off, unable-to-reach type of fantasy. He wanted it to become a real, easily attainable, right-now concept made tangible through the use of things and activities from people’s everyday lives.
The times we are living in are not that different than the days of Jesus. The surroundings and circumstances are very different, but the condition of man’s heart (hardened) and the lack of understanding of the spiritual part of their being is much the same. In discussing some of the layers of meaning contained within the Scriptures, as presented by Jesus in parables, hopefully you will have your eyes of understanding enlightened (Ephesians 1:18) and a flicker of flame lit within your heart to desire to know more of the Scriptures. Be open to seeing something you haven’t seen before. There is always more to see, more to learn and understand, always more to discover what our heavenly Father tucked into His Word waiting for us to uncover.
Enjoy the journey of discovery into the hidden treasures of God’s Word in “The Kingdom of God in Parables.”
