V. John Gonino, D.O. was born in Columbus, Ohio and grew up in the Finger Lakes region of central New York. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from The State University of New York at Cortland in 1983. A year and a half later, he received his Master of Arts degree from The University of Connecticut. A master’s internship at The Institute for Aerobics Research brought him to Dallas, Texas in June of 1984.

After working as an exercise physiologist for two years, Dr. Gonino felt his knowledge stagnating and wanted to become involved in a career where he could become a lifelong student, as well as serve others. Medicine was the career path that he chose.  He graduated from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth in June of 1991, and subsequently served a three-year residency in Family Medicine in Dallas. 

After 26 years in private practice, he decided to write this book primarily to explain some of the reasons that the United States spends more money on healthcare than any other country in the world yet ranks as the 35th healthiest country.

This book represents 36 years of clinical experience; a period of time in which his professors, conference instructors, and patients have taught him much.  He has come to realize that often times the difference between success and failure lies in faith and the amount of love that the person is surrounded by.

The miracle patients and legends that are contained in this book understand that it is the integration of mind, body, and spirit that produce the greatest outcome.  As Dr. Majid Ali, Dr Gonino’s first instructor in Integrative Medicine, taught him years ago, “Miracles are everyone’s right, but purification is necessary first.  Impurities, mental or chemical, pollute the system and desecrate the alter within.”
